The College of the Mainland Art Gallery will be accepting submissions of two-dimensional, three-dimensional and photography/digital works for its upcoming Juried High School Art Exhibition. Selected works will be exhibited in the COM Art Gallery from April 13-29, 2020.

In an effort to expose young artists to the professional world of art, the Juried High School Art Exhibition offers students an early opportunity to experience art competitions and learn how to properly exhibit their work.

The call for entry is open to high school students in College of the Mainland’s service areas including Texas City, Dickinson, Hitchcock, La Marque, Santa Fe, League City, Friendswood, Kemah, Bacliff and San Leon. Each artist is eligible to enter up to two works, and there is no entry fee required.

The following entry guidelines are required:

  • Two-dimensional: Two-dimensional works in any medium are accepted. Matting or framing is not necessary. If framed, it must have a hanging hardware on the back. Drawings in charcoal or other dry media must be spray-fixed to avoid smudging. All wet media must be completely dry prior to submission.
  • Three-dimensional: Three-dimensional works of any media will be considered. Accepted works must be stable enough for safe handling. Any works that consist of multiple parts must be securely taped or attached together.
  • Other media: Please contact the art gallery at mgray@com.edu if you wish to enter other media.

Jurors for the exhibition will be COM Art Faculty Mark Greenwalt (2D), George Bowes (3D) and Kristy Peet (Photography/Digital).

Entries must be submitted from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 6 at the College of the Mainland Art Gallery, Fine Arts Building, 1200 N. Amburn Road, Texas City, Texas 77591. Please use the building entrance from Parking Lot C.
