College of the Mainland employees raised $13,000 during this year’s United Way campaign.

The mark surpassed the goal of $12,000.

In total, 59 employees made a pledge to the United Way Galveston County Mainland during the campaign. Of those, 25 are designated COM Champions for pledging a minimum of $20 per month.

During the annual campaign, employees took part in a kickoff event, hosted a first-time Coin Wars, auctioned gift baskets, had weekly quizzes and some employees took part in a “Seeing is Believing Tour” of local United Way agencies.

The Coin Wars was won by the Marketing Department and the IT Department remained as the reigning champs of the baskets by raising the most at $677. Both the Marketing and IT departments received a traveling trophy to keep until next year’s campaign.

The United Way and its member agencies throughout the county strive to assure that everyone in our community has sufficient food, has a safe place to live, has access to basic healthcare, has the skills and support to enter and stay in the workforce, has access to emergency services, and children have an opportunity to grow and prosper.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the campaign.
