The fall season is upon us (so says the calendar) which means it’s time for a chili cook off.

The annual Golden Ladle Chili Cook Off and Bake Sale is being hosted by COMPeers on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The annual event, which is being held in conjunction with the Halloween Bash, kicks off at 11 a.m. in the LRC Breezeway.

Co-workers are encouraged to form teams and enter in the cook off. All chili entries must be provided by 11 a.m. on Oct. 30 in order to be judged. Prizes for Best Chili, Crowd Favorite and Showmanship will be awarded at 1:15 p.m.

Tickets are being sold for $6 that includes a chili tasting cup and a bottle of water. Public tasting will take place between noon and 1 p.m.

A bake sale also is being held. Donations of baked goods are appreciated.

Those interested in participating in the chili cook off should contact Lauren Davila at ldavila1@com.edu. Space is limited. The deadline to enter is Friday, Oct. 19.

All proceeds benefit COM scholarships provided by COMPeers, an employee volunteer group.

In September, COMPeers raised more than $1,000 for scholarships through its Fantasy Football fundraiser.
