The testing center at the College of the Mainland is available to community members to take proctored exams from Texas Commission on Fire Protection to Microsoft proficiency.

The testing center in May was the first location in the state to administer the Fire Protection certification exam online.  The exam will continue to be offered at the testing center, located in the administration building on campus, to program cadets and eligible community members.

Students entering College of the Mainland are required to take the TSI assessment test and the testing center at 1200 Amburn is available for walk-in exams during testing center hours.

Those needing to take an exam are able to schedule an appointment online through the “You Can Book Me” feature on the COM website at www.com.edu/testing-center. After scheduling an appointment, students will receive a confirmation email and notification reminders.

The exams and computer-based tests offered at the testing center include:

PearsonVue Authorized Test Center allows for the administering of various certification exams such as Microsoft, Cisco, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and COMPTIA
TExES: Texas Examinations of Educator Standards
HiSET: High School Equivalency Exam
CLEP: College Level Examination Program
TCEQ: Texas Commission on Environmental Quality occupational licensing
TCFP: Texas Commission on Fire Protection
TCOLE: Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
Distance Education: Proctoring site for students that need a place to take their exam in a monitored environment (usually from another college/university)
TSI Assessment: Entrance exam to determine college readiness

Those taking an exam at the center must present valid/current picture ID. The exams and tests have associated fees.

The testing center at College of the Mainland is open from:

8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday

Admission into testing rooms ends an hour before closing and all testing stops at close of business.
