College of the Mainland students are tackling childhood obesity with jump ropes and Frisbees.

On a Free Family Fitness Day April 22 at noon at the College of the Mainland fields, kids of all ages can join in a jump rope challenge, play Frisbee, run mini-relays, meet a personal trainer, explore healthy snacks and more.

The project is inspired by students’ desire to tackle childhood obesity and help the community in a free, fun event.

“Kids need to get outside and play. Students are passionate about helping kids be healthy in fun, creative ways,” said professor Stacey Henderson, whose Psychology for Success students launched the project.
