COM to host free lecture on U.S./China relations
Explore Chinese politics and their impact on U.S./China relations in a free lecture April 25 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the College of the Mainland Learning Resources Center Auditorium.
Dr. Minxin Pei will offer his expertise on U.S./China relations as part of the COM International Speakers Series.
“Given that President Trump has placed U.S. trade policy at the center of discussion, Dr. Pei will address our trade policy with China,” said COM government professor John Presnall. “He’s an academic specialist in political science who has spent decades studying and writing on this topic.”
Among other topics, Pei will discuss the controversy surrounding the Chinese government's policy in the South China Sea.
Pei is director of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College. He is the author most recently of "China's Crony Capitalism: The Dynamics of Regime Decay" (Harvard 2016). His areas of expertise include comparative politics, U.S./Asia relations and U.S./China relations.
This lecture is part of COM’s International Speaker Series, which aims to provide students and the community with experts’ lectures on topics of world significance.
