Spreading holiday cheer, College of the Mainland employees collected and donated more than 1,000 pounds of nonperishable foods for the Galveston County Food Bank during a holiday drive.

This is the college’s third annual drive for the food bank programs, which reach nearly 5,800 hungry children monthly with nutritious food.

“We had more donations than usual this year. We asked employees and retirees to bring donations as admission to the COM holiday party,” said president’s administrative assistant Michelle Gerami.

COM employees also support an annual donation drive for United Way-Galveston County, which supports dozens of local nonprofits that serve the community.
