The Center for Risk Management will host a no-cost class Safety for Confined Space Entry for general industry at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute Safety on March 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This course utilizes the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 permit-required confined space standard for general industry to show students how to maximize safety for you and those around you. After completing this course, students will be able to identify confined spaces (a space not designed for human occupancy) and determine if they require a permit, understand how to develop and maintain permits, and know the requirements of rescue and emergency services.

The class will be taught by Greg Smith, CSP, a principal and co-founder of Vector Risk and Safety. Smith has more than 30 years of experience in the safety field working in both construction and general industry environments. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degree in industrial hygiene and safety from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and the designation of Certified Safety Professional from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.        

All classes are sponsored by Texas Mutual Insurance Company and presented at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute, located at 320 Delany Rd. in La Marque.
