This spring, the Small Business Safety and Health Center at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute is expanding its course offerings for small businesses. Beginning in February, the Center will offer monthly “lunch and learn” or “dinner and learn” opportunities. The first “lunch and learn” will be offered on Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute. The topic will be “Safety Training on a Budget.”

A worthwhile investment for any business, safety training can help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries while at work. Trying to fit safety training in a tight budget may seem daunting but there are plenty of ways to train employees and ensure that they get the skills and knowledge they need to perform effectively on the job without breaking the bank.

The Gulf Coast Safety Institute was established in 2007 to provide safety and health training and education to workers and employers. Additionally, the Gulf Coast Safety Institute is an OSHA Challenge Program Administrator mentoring over 50 companies in improving their Safety and Health Management System to potentially achieve OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program STAR status.
