COM nursing program open for applications
Prepare for a life-saving career as a registered nurse in College of the Mainland’s Associate Degree Nursing Program, now registering through May 16 at 5 p.m.
With the demand for nurses projected to remain high, now is the perfect time to complete requirements to enter the field with rewards like no other. Students in COM’s rigorous program learn through classroom instruction and clinical rotations in hospitals and other health care facilities in Galveston and on the mainland.
Students benefit from COM’s small student/faculty ratio and state-of-the-art lab equipment, including the SIM Man, a computerized mannequin that simulates a variety of conditions. Students may assess his condition, respond and observe "real life" changes in his condition.
COM graduate Jamie Hornbeck, who received the Daisy Award for her work as a labor and delivery nurse at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, discovered her passion as a COM student while completing clinicals at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas.
“As I did rotations, I fell in love with the nursing field,” she said. “I had a really great experience.”
Before applying, students must complete the online pre-nursing orientation. The deadline to complete the RN online pre-nursing orientation is May 12.
