Cell phone photo contest open for entries
Have a stunning photo snapped with your cell phone? Now those with striking cell phone
images may submit them to College of the Mainland’s Oh Snap 2! Cell Phone Photo Contest
for a chance to have the picture displayed in the COM Art Gallery. The best in show
winner will receive a $300 prize.
COM Art Gallery director Mayuko Gray conceived the contest, back by popular demand.
“During the last contest we had more than 2,300 entries,” said Gray. “Everyone has
a cell phone now and captures moments in their lives. We wanted people to share them.”
Juliana Forero, director of education for the Houston Center for Photography, will
judge the exhibition.
Last year’s winner, COM Collegiate High School student April Walsch, successfully
launched a wedding and portrait photography business after her photo of dew-dropped
berries garnered attention.
To enter the contest, open to anyone residing within the 100-mile radius of COM, email
up to 10 photos tocomartgallery@yahoo.com. In the subject line, type your full name,
title and contact phone number separated by underscores, for example, John Smith_Title_8320001234.
By submitting photos to this exhibition, artists grant permission to reproduce their
work for print and electronic media.
The COM Art Gallery is committed to making contemporary artwork accessible and is
