Discover how to reach your goals and prepare for a cutting-edge career at the College of the Mainland Cosmetology Program open house Nov. 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Salon at College of the Mainland.

Program instructors will guide attendees in planning their future as a cosmetology operator, cosmetology instructor or esthetician.

A CHI-partnership school, the program allows students to work under experienced instructors and use professional products such as CHI, Redken, Joico, American Crew and YG Labs. The program’s high standards and quality of instruction will assist students in their future careers and will enable them to be selective in their employment.

Advanced students have the opportunity to work in the COM Cosmetology Salon, open Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students offer services including hairstyling, hair coloring, hair cutting, facials, facial waxing, manicures, pedicures and more.

“Everyone has their creative freedom here,” said COM cosmetology student Randy Simpson. “The school gets us prepared and then we’re able to go take our state board certification test.”

After state licensure, COM graduates are ready to pursue their career goals of working in private salons or opening their own businesses.

The Salon at College of the Mainland is located at Gulfway Plaza Outlet Mall, 15009 Delaney Rd., in La Marque. For more information, call Jamie Powell at 409-933-8608 or visit www.com.edu/cosmetology.
