The smells of new erasers and crisp notebooks thrill not only students but teachers as well. An employee group at College of the Mainland conducted a campus-wide drive and collected nine boxes of binders, pencils, tissues, glue and other supplies to stock Hitchcock ISD teachers’ cabinets for a new school year.

“We knew Hitchcock is in need, like all schools,” said Trudy Trochesset, group treasurer.

The employee group, COMPEERS, delivered supplies to Carla Massa, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction at Hitchcock ISD, to distribute.

“She was excited,” said Trochesset.

Supplies will benefit students in the Hitchcock Primary School and Stewart Elementary.

“Teachers often need supplies throughout the year, and many use their own money to purchase it. We are very thankful to the COMPeers for their generous donations,” said Massa.

COMPEERS is an employee organization dedicated to positive campus and community relations. The group recently organized a book drive for the COM Library and plans to conduct a food drive in November.
