Texas Workforce Solutions has approved College of the Mainland as an eligible training site provider for its Welding, Machinist and Mechanical Maintenance Programs, which means that students enrolling in these programs may be eligible to receive funds from Texas Workforce Solutions to cover all or part of tuition costs.

“These are high-need, high-skilled workforce areas,” said COM Continuing Education Program director Carla Boone.

The amount for which students are eligible is based on their current income, or prior income if unemployed.

Texas Workforce Solutions provides free services to job seekers and employers funded by state and federal tax dollars.

Each year, COM trains nearly 800 students in the welding, mechanical maintenance and machinist programs for jobs in the oil and gas and aerospace industries.
