CHS College Readiness
College readiness is determined by a variety of formal and informal attributes demonstrated by a student, deeming them “college ready.”
College Readiness Minimum Score Requirements
Formally, a student must meet a College Readiness Minimum Score Requirement to qualify for the program. Rigorous coursework requires students to demonstrate a minimum level of college readiness in English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR) and Mathematics.
Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2)
English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR)
- 945 AND essay score of 5.
- or less than 945 with an essay score of 5 AND an NRS score of 5.
Mathematics
- 950 OR Less than 950 AND an NRS score of 6
Assessment Exemptions
| Exam | Composite | Exempts TSIA2 ELAR | Exempts TSIA2 Mathematics |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAT | N/A | EBRW: 480 | MATH: 530 |
| ACT | 23 | English: 19 | MATH: 19 |
| STAAR EOC | English III: 4000 | Algebra II: 4000 | |
Note: A passing score on the ELAR section is required for entry into Collegiate High School. If a student is entering junior year or below, the TSIA2 must be completed by the end of that year to enroll in college-level Math courses. For Collegiate High School only, the Math score doesn't prevent a student entry into the program.
