Faculty and Staff Services
You work hard. You set goals, create lesson plans and work with students in the classroom setting. Wouldn’t it be nice to get a little help?
Services offered by The Tutoring Center
Instructors can request a 10-15 minute informal presentation about center services. Handouts, brochures and Q&A included.
Instructors can request a classroom visit by a professional tutor to provide information on any phase of the speech or writing process. Tutors can model peer-tutoring strategies, work with groups or individual students, and deliver handouts and tip sheets on a variety of writing and speech topics.
Online Sessions with a Tutoring Center Tutor
Available during normal Tutoring Center hours, writing tutors offer online tutoring for any assignment involving writing through WCONLINE, a web-based service that gives students real-time access to tutoring sessions. Students are able to work one-on-one with a writing tutor on a laptop or computer as if they were meeting in the Tutoring Center. Students can make their own appointments online at com.mywconline.com, stop by the Tutoring Center or give us a call at 409-933-8703.
E-Tutoring Sessions with a Tutoring Center Tutor
Available during normal Tutoring Center hours, writing tutors offer E-Tutoring sessions for students who are not able to come to campus for assistance. Please contact director, Beth Richards at email@example.com for further information. Instructors may also request an information sheet on E-Tutoring for their syllabus and/or Blackboard shells.
Online Tutoring through Net Tutor
The Tutoring Center is proud to partner with NetTutor, an outsourced company who provides tutoring on demand, 24/7. NetTutor provides tutors in an array of subjects. Students can logon to Blackboard and access a tutor by going to a course you are currently enrolled in and clicking on “NetTutor”.
