Audiences will soon have the opportunity to enjoy the first College of the Mainland (COM) Theatre production in the soon-to-be completed Fine Arts Building when “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” makes its production debut on Feb. 9. A dark and suspenseful musical, the show is filled with vengeance and horror, and features a mixed cast of community members, theatre majors and high school students aspiring to major in theatre at COM.

"There's a reason we're called The Biggest Little Theatre in Texas," said H. Russ Brown, Head of Theatre at COM. "We have professional-level productions and a training program that draws theatre majors from all over the state to come train with us."

While the Fine Arts Building renovations are underway, guests can enter the theatre using the Parking Lot B entrance. Made possible through the 2018 bond program, the building is slated for completion this spring.

Since 1972, COM Theatre has presented more than 228 productions including children's theatre, concerts and workshops with attendance of more than a quarter of a million people. The program has been recognized as a leading theatre program, setting high production standards and developing one of this country's most innovative programs.

The play runs Feb. 9-19, Thursday to Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. For tickets or more information, visit www.com.edu/theatre or call 409-933-8345.
