What is a Peer Mentor?

Driving Unity, Confidence & Knowledge

D.U.C.K. Peer Mentors are dedicated to supporting fellow students as they navigate their academic journey. They play a role in:

  • Helping students navigate challenges
  • Building a sense of community
  • Connecting students with academic and campus resources
  • Serving as a study partner, advocate and role model

Peer mentoring goes beyond traditional guidance; it’s about forming meaningful, reciprocal relationships where both mentors and mentees grow. With the support of a Peer Mentor, students will feel more connected to the campus, empowering them to succeed both personally and academically.

Hi, I'm Aliza! I work and study here at COM and I plan to transfer to UHCL to get my Bachelor's in Psychology. I'm looking forward to becoming a therapist.

I absolutely love making new friends and going on some fun adventures. I want to go skydiving soon. Crazy right? I can definitely be spontaneous sometimes. I also enjoy spending time at church.

Hi, my name is Erika! I am a CHS student, and I am in my second semester at COM, pursuing an associate degree in general studies. I will graduate in the spring of 2027. My plan is to transfer to UT Austin to get a degree in law. As I am going to be a lawyer more specifically, I am going to be a criminal defense attorney.

Outside of academics, I love to do crafts! One craft I am currently learning is looming. But I have learned how to crochet, knit, and more! I hope one day we could make some crafts together!

I look forward to supporting you throughout your journey at COM and helping make your experience both easy and enjoyable. From attending student events together to guiding you toward the many great resources we offer, I’m here every step of the way. Let’s make your time at the College of the Mainland one you’ll always remember!
