Dean of Students
Welcome and thank you for choosing College of the Mainland! The mission of the Dean of Students Office is to enhance the quality, character, and perspectives of our students.
We promote an environment that encourages intellectual exchange and individual expression. The role of the Dean of Students is to represent student concerns and provide programs and services that facilitate both student personal and academic growth. The Office also oversees implementation of College rules and policies that have been established for the well-being of all.
The Office of the Dean of Students (DOS) also coordinates the efforts of multiple offices whose work involves support for students. These include Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Counseling, Community Resource Center, Career Services, Services for Students with Disabilities, the Testing Center, TRiO Programs, Student Life , and College Connections/Enrollment Management. Each of these areas has its own website linked above where additional information may be found.
Forms:
Used to submit a complaint against a student at COM who has possibly violated one or more rules of conduct or conduct regulations.
Used to submit an educational or a personal issue or condition that a student believes to be unfair, inequitable, or a hindrance to his/her education at COM.
A formal request brought forth by a student to change a final grade in a course and/or to challenge a penalty within the student grade appeal process.
A formal request to appeal any academic dismissal or conduct-related decision at any level of the appeals process.
Share concerns that you have for any student, staff, faculty, and/or community member who may be experiencing a crisis, displaying odd or unusual behavior, or are engaging in behavior that may be perceived as being harmful to themselves or others.
Submit if you, or someone you know, may benefit from receiving basic needs assistance from community resources (clothing, transportation, food, financial relief, mental health/counseling, etc.).
To report incidents of harassment, and retaliation for COM students, employees, and/or third-parties. This form is not limited to reports of sexual misconduct and is used to report all Title IX and other types of discrimination to the Title IX office.
To Report a Threat
College of the Mainland seeks to foster a climate of safety that requires the involvement of all community members. To facilitate this process, all faculty, staff, students, and other community members are encouraged to report observed behavior that warrants concern for the safety of the community and/or the safety of an individual. The CARE Team reviews reports and gathers information to make the most informed decisions about how best to intervene.
