GED Testing

The GED (General Education Development) test offers individuals who did not complete high school the opportunity to earn
a certificate that is the legal equivalent of a high school diploma. This credential
is widely accepted by employers and colleges across the United States as proof of
high school-level academic skills.
Upon the successful completion of the GED tests, the test taker will be issued a State
of Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency.
Fast Facts: What to Expect
- Topics: The GED consists of four individual subject tests: Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
- Scheduling: You may take one at a time or schedule multiple exams in one day.
Total Duration: Approx. 7.5 Hours (if all 4 tests are taken at once) - Minimum Age: 18 (16 and 17-year-olds require specific parental/school [Age Exceptions])
- TSI Status: Passing the GED with a score of 165+ on the Reasoning Through Language Arts or Mathematical Reasoning sections may exempt you from the TSI exam. Make sure Admissions has your scores before you schedule a placement test!

When you first pass the GED, the TEA emails a free PDF certificate to the email address you used to register on GED.com. (If you need an additional official copy, visit the TEA Certificate/Transcript Search.
Test Scores: Download your transcript as a PDF and use the COM Document Upload Portal to send yours to Admissions. Additionally, questions can we be sent to admissions@com.edu.
