Guest WiFi Access

If you are not a COM employee or a COM student, use COM-Mobile to access the Wi-Fi.  (Note: Wait for the Terms of Use page to open in your browser and check the box agreeing to the Terms of Use.)

College of the Mainland’s password management system provides a convenient means for COM students, faculty, and staff to unlock their COM account or reset their COM password (COM User accounts are used to authenticate access to WebAdvisor, Email, classroom and lab PCs, and COM’s wireless network).

Getting Started – Registering your Cell Phone and Alternate Email

  1. Access ‘Account Management’ by going to: https://com.onbio-key.com/
  2. Enter your username and current COM password, then click Login.
  3. After entering your username and password information, click your name in the top right corner and choose Edit Profile.
  4. Click the link to Change your password now.
  5. Enter your current password and click Continue.
  6. Next you will be prompted to verify your identity by using your mobile authenticator app on your phone.  You should have set this up the first time you logged into the COM Login. Open and login to the authenticator app on your phone.
  7. If you do not have a mobile authenticator app set up, then follow the steps on the Multi-factor Authentication Tab (see below.)
  8. Enter the 6-digit code found in the authenticator app, click Continue.
  9. You will now be prompted to enter an alternate email address. Please note that this is any email address other than your COM address (such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.). After entering your alternate email, click Continue.
  10. PortalGuard will send a one-time temporary password to your alternate email address. Using a different browser window (or your mobile device), open the email from PortalGuard and enter the temporary password. (Please be careful reading and entering the password.)
  11. Upon receiving the message “End-User Self Service. Self-Service Action Successful”, click the link “Click here to try to continue logging in.”
  12. After successfully registering your cell phone and alternative email, you will see the Account Management home page. You can log in any time and update this information as needed. (Note: cell phone number and alternative email address are displayed.)
  13. Click the Log Out link.

College of the Mainland utilizes Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to safeguard your account and our institution. This security measure requires two forms of identification during sign-in: something you know (your password) and something you have (typically a mobile device). In compliance with Federal and Texas State Laws, MFA is mandatory for all COM account holders to enhance the protection of personal data and the college network.
