Transcript Evaluations
Transfer your earned credits into College of the Mainland to fast-track your degree. If you have completed college courses at another institution, earned qualifying scores on credit-by-exam tests (AP/CLEP), or have international credentials, you can request an official transcript evaluation. This ensures your eligible credits apply directly toward your certificate or associate degree requirements.

Transcripts are not automatically evaluated upon admission. To get your past credits audited, please follow these steps:
- Submit Your Official Transcripts: Ensure your previous institution has sent your official transcripts directly to the COM Admissions Office (via secure electronic exchange, or in a sealed, unopened physical envelope).
- Submit the Evaluation Form: Fill out the formal audit request. If you need a fast evaluation to clear upcoming course prerequisites, request an expedited review on the form. (Please note: Standard college transcript evaluations are fully completed within 4 - 6 weeks of receipt.)

Awarding AP & CLEP Test Credit
College of the Mainland grants undergraduate course credit to students who have successfully completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, or who achieved required scores on Advanced Placement (AP) or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests.
Credit Assessment Request Form
To have these testing credits added to your permanent COM transcript, the following criteria must be met:
- Active Enrollment: You must be actively enrolled in a COM certificate or degree program during the current semester.
- Official Scores: You must provide official documentation (such as an official test score transcript) supporting your request for credit.
- The 6-Hour Rule: You must satisfactorily complete at least six (6) non-developmental credit hours at COM before Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credits can be officially transcripted.
- Credit Limits: No more than 24 credit hours earned through PLA or testing can be applied toward a degree at COM.
International Transcript Evaluations
If you completed coursework at a high school or university outside of the United States, your transcripts must go through an independent credentialing agency.
- All foreign transcripts must be fully evaluated course-by-course by SpanTran Educational Services Inc. or any other NACES-approved agency formally recognized by COM.
- The independent agency must mail or electronically deliver the finalized evaluation record directly to the COM Admissions office.
CLEP and AP Credit
College of the Mainland’s policy to grant undergraduate course credit to entering freshmen students who have successfully completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, who have achieved required scores on one or more examinations in the Advanced Placement Program or the College Level Examination Program, or who have successfully completed one or more courses offered through concurrent enrollment in high school and at an institution of higher education with the application materials, under Education Code 51.968. Transcript evaluations must be requested by submitting a transcript evaluation form to the Office of Admissions and Records.
College transcript evaluations are completed within within 4-6 weeks of receipt. To request an expediated evaluation, complete the Transcript Evaluation Form below.
To check the status of an evaluation, run a program evaluation in Student Selfserve.
- The student must be enrolled in a COM certificate or degree program in the current semester.
- The student must provide official documentation (transcripts, license/certification, etc.) supporting the request for credit.
- The student must satisfactorily complete six (6) non-developmental credit hours at COM prior to PLA credit being added to transcript.
- No more than 24 credit hours may be earned through PLA applicable to a degree at COM;
- Check with your Academic Advisor to have your CLEP or AP credits applied to you COM Academic Record.
