Policies & Regulations

College of the Mainland's Policies are governing principles that mandate or constrain actions and have institution-wide application. They change infrequently and set a course for the foreseeable future, help ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and reduce institutional risk.
About the Policies & Regulations
Legal Policies
(LEGAL) policies include legal requirements and cite applicable federal and state law, Texas Attorney General opinions, and court decisions. These documents are meant to inform readers and decision-makers of the legal context of the subject. (LEGAL) policies should be read alongside corresponding (LOCAL) policies.
Local Policies
(LOCAL) policies include provisions that the board has determined are appropriate for the college district and have been formally adopted by the board. (LOCAL) policies should be read alongside corresponding (LEGAL) policies, though not every policy includes both a (LEGAL) and a (LOCAL) policy.
Regulation
Some policies in the manual include references to regulations. Regulations are administrative procedures to help with policy implementation. They are not adopted by the board.
Exhibit
Some policies or regulations include exhibits which contain college district forms, notices, and the like. Some exhibits are required by legal authority. While most exhibits are not adopted by the board, they are included in the college district’s manual to assist with policy implementation.
