The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program at College of the Mainland prepares students for careers as skilled, compassionate pre-hospital healthcare providers. The program combines classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, and supervised clinical and field internship experience to build the knowledge, technical skills, and professional behavior expected of an entry-level EMS provider.

Accreditation
The EMS Program is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as an EMS Education Program.
The Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), and is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as an EMS Education Program.

Careers & Outcomes
Graduates who successfully complete the Paramedic Program and meet all NREMT/DSHS eligibility requirements may apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic Certification Exam and pursue Texas EMS licensure.

Financial Aid and Scholarships Available
- Apply to COM and submit the necessary documents (transcripts, meningitis vaccination if under 22 and proof of Texas residency).
- Submit EMS Program Information Packet
- Obtain a Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.
- After classes begin, you will be instructed to complete a drug screen.
