College of the Mainland Weather Update - August 24, 2020

College of the Mainland (COM) officials continue to closely monitor two tropical systems ahead of their potential impact to our region. Currently, COM continues to operate with most courses and services available online.

Tropical Storm Marco is expected to make landfall on the Louisiana coast late Monday with minimal impact to the surrounding COM region. At this time, Tropical Storm Laura is a more immediate concern to our area and is forecasted to arrive late Wednesday. The path of the system remains very unpredictable. Please monitor your local emergency officials for the latest weather updates, and review your current emergency preparedness measures. The latest Centers for Disease Controls (CDC) emergency preparedness measures can be found online at www.cdc.gov/disasters/hurricanes/covid-19/prepare-for-hurricane.html.

Given the evolving nature of this situation, we ask that employees and students monitor COM emails, text alerts and the www.com.edu website for the most up-to-date information. More updates will be provided as the weather systems continue to progress.
