Advance in industry with OSHA safety courses

Individuals can prepare to enter industry or to expand their skills with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10-Hour General Industry Outreach safety course at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute.

“The 10-hour course gives individuals background information in health and safety so they can protect themselves on the job,” said Cindy Lewis, director of the Gulf Coast Safety Institute.

OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training will be presented over one and a half days Oct. 28-29. This training is intended to provide entry-level industry workers with key information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to identify, prevent and mitigate job-related hazards.

Topics include an introduction to OSHA, exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, machine guarding, material handling and fall protection. The cost for the OSHA 10-hour class is $95 per in-district student and $100 per out-of-district student.

OSHA 10-hour classes are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and 8 a.m. to noon on the second day. All classes will be taught at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute at 320 Delany Rd. in La Marque.
