Basic Peace Officer Academy
Through a combination of real-life scenario training and classes, students prepare for success on the state licensing exam and in the field. They learn how to investigate, write reports, properly use force and diffuse situations verbally.
In recent years academy graduates have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the state exam.
How to Begin the Basic Peace Officer Academy
Day credit academies begin each January and July. Night noncredit academies begin each February.
- Apply to COM at www.com.edu/apply and submit the necessary documents (transcripts, meningitis vaccination if under 22 and proof of Texas residency). Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
