Previous Work Experience

I worked as a teacher in an afterschool program working with “at-risk” youth for almost 10 years. I then began working as an Investigator with Children's Protective Services (CPS) and was promoted to a supervisor working specifically in the Sexual Abuse Unit. While working with CPS, I began teaching part-time at COM in 2007 and became a full-time instructor in 2011.

Teaching Philosophy/Research Interests

As an educator, I want to provide a fun and interactive learning environment for students. I want my students to become excited and interested about the concepts that are being discussed in the classroom. I want to push students to think on a deeper level and think in ways that they have not thought before. Most importantly, I want students to leave the classroom eager to come back to class to learn more. My research in graduate school centered around diseases of the brain and how to prevent them.

Message to Students

Show 'em how great you are, never quit, and keep pushing forward.
