What is the GED?

GED (General Educational Development) tests measure the outcome of a high school education. GED tests consist of four tests, one in each of these subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Language Arts

Adaptations to testing conditions are permitted with approval from Pearson VUE: GEDTS for adults with disabilities. Please contact 1-877-392-6433 for more information.

Fees

  • All sections of the test: $135 total, $33.75 per section

2014 Retest Policy

Examinees may have two discounted retakes per failed content area, providing those retakes occur within 12 calendar months of the initial attempt. The price will be $13.75 instead of $33.75 per retake. After these two retests, an examinee can wait 90 days to test again for full price of $33.75. Call 1-877-392-6433 for more information.


GED Certificates

College of the Mainland's Testing Department can only provide GED transcripts for COM's Admissions and Records Office and Financial Aid Department.

Official transcripts are available at www.tea.state.tx.us.

  • Select "GED" from the column on the left side of the page.
  • Click on "Texas GED Certificate/Transcript Search" in the center of the page.
  • There is a $5 transcription fee due at time of request.

To obtain an unofficial copy of your GED transcript from COM's Testing Center, please fill out the request form and fax or mail to:
