COM plans to admit a new class of associate degree nursing (ADN) students in January 2010, pending receipt of funding from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Steps to complete college and program application(s):
- If you have not completed an application to College of the Mainland, you may do so online. Access the college application online at www.com.edu/apply
- You will also need a sealed official copy of all college transcripts in order for your transfer credits to be reviewed. Please forward your transcripts to College of the Mainland, Office of Admissions, 1200 Amburn Road, Texas City, TX 77591 or deliver a sealed copy to College of the Mainland Office of Admissions (ask for a copy to bring to Jameeka Williams for EDP appointment.
- If you have not completed the Accuplacer Placement test, you will need to complete at least the Reading Accuplacer. College of the Mainland Nursing Department uses the Reading scores to assess Reading Comprehension Skills levels for the program application. All applicants must complete the Reading Accuplacer Comprehension Skills test regardless of educational history or prior testing. Please contact me, Jameeka Williams, to discuss your placement test needs. - Complete the Online Pre-Nursing orientation.
- Call to set up an appointment to complete your EDP with Jameeka Williams at 409-938-1211 x684. Please pick up your Pre-Nursing Verification card from the Nursing Department TVB-1120 (T-54) prior to your EDP appointment.

- Return completed Nursing program application prior to the application deadline.
Students Applying for January Admission
In order to be eligible for January admission, students must meet the following deadlines:
- Complete online orientation by 4 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2009
- Provide Official Transcripts from all schools attended (except College of the Mainland) to Jameeka Williams (TVB-1238B) when completing EDP.
- Application deadline by 5 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2009.
- Complete series of 3 Hepatitis B immunizations by 3/15/10 (this series normally takes 7 months to complete). Submit a copy of shoot record verifying receipt of the first shot at the time of application.
- Complete MMR immunizations (2) or provide a positive titer by 2/15/10
- Complete Varicella immunizations (2) or provide a positive titer by 2/15/10
- Provide a copy of Level C Healthcare Provider CPR card by 2/15/09
- Have completed or show proof of current enrollment in the following program prerequisites:
(All prerequisites must be completed by the end of the Fall 2009 semester to be accepted or conditionally accepted into the Spring 2010 ADN program.)- ENGL 1301 Composition I
- BIOL 2401 Human Anatomy & Physiology I
- BIOL 2402 Human Anatomy & Physiology II
- BIOL 2420 Microbiology
- Eligible for College Algebra by test score or completion of academic success course(s).
- Reading Accuplacer Score of 82 (13.0) or higher within 5 years must be completed at the time of application.
