Theatre Arts / Drama at COM
College of the Mainland's Theatre program offers pre-professional training, as well as preparation for four-year colleges and universities, to all aspiring actors, stage managers, directors, designers and technicians. Classes are offered in a number of disciplines including Acting I, Acting II, Acting III, Acting IV, Introduction to Theatre, Film (Development of Motion Pictures), History of Musical Theatre and Theatre Dance Forms. Performers and technicians will not only receive top-notch classroom instruction, they will also get a wide range of opportunities for "hands on" experience from the six plays and musicals that College of the Mainland Community Theatre produces on our main stage every season.
Several COM Theatre graduates have gone on to career success in independent films and N.Y. productions, including the recent Broadway productions of 42nd Street, Damn Yankees, Titanic and Avenue Q. College of the Mainland Community Theatre has recently performed such productions as Fiddler on the Roof, Seussical, Joseph and the Amazing Technical Dreamcoat, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Always...Patsy Cline, Forever Plaid, The Spitfire Grill and Proof, to name a few.
