Cosmetology at COM
Cosmetology Instructor Certificate
During the course of study in this program, the student will learn: rules and regulations related to TDLR testing and licensing; teaching methodologies and lesson plan development; classroom management; evaluation and assessment techniques; skills for successful completion of TDLR testing for instructor licensure; Texas Administrative Code: chapter 60 and 83; Texas Occupational Code, Title 9 Chapters 1602 and 1603. Must already have Cosmetology Operator License.
Also covered: Practical for the instruction of students in the TDLR OP program, including all sanitation and sterilization standards; syllabi development; learner styles and motivation.
Full-time students may complete the program in one year by meeting during the day, Monday through Friday. Students unable to meet classes during the day may schedule evening classes which meet Monday through Thursday. Part-time students are able to satisfy the requirements within 24 months by following the recommended schedule of courses.
