How Do I Enroll?

If you've never attended COM's credit classes you must complete an application in the Admissions Office in the Administration Bldg. 409-938-1211, ext. 264 or online at www.com.edu.

Next, you must complete the THEA Alternate Test upstairs in the Student Center. In order to take the test you will need to show proof of a High School Diploma or GED (visit www.com.edu/testing or call the Testing Center for times and dates 409-938-1211, ext. 379). These results must demonstrate: Eligibility for Math 0305, READ 0340 and ENGL 0360. Must complete MATH 0303, READ 0300, ENGL 0330 if scores demonstrate that the student did not meet our requirements.

Transfer any private school, college or university transcript hours to College of the Mainland's Admissions Department and another copy to the Cosmetology Department for transcript review. An official copy of practicals applications from previous school must be sent to the Cosmetology Department.

If you have TDLR clock hours from a previous Cosmetology School, please verify that your previous school has dropped you from their program with TDLR. Contact TDLR and request a transcript of hours to be sent to:

College of the Mainland
Cosmetology Department
1200 Amburn Road

Providing all prerequisite requirements are met, enrollment follows the College of the Mainland's registration dates. Fall, spring and summer registration times are available. Visit www.com.edu/schedule for more information.

If you have attended COM's Credit Classes

You may need to update your COM application if you have not attended recently. Call admissions for additional information at 409-938-1211, ext. 264 or update your application online at www.com.edu.

Request a current COM transcript, official or unofficial, from Admissions Office

Go the Student Center upstairs and have an advisor determine whether any developmental classes are required before enrollment into the Cosmetology Program.

All first-time COM Cosmetology students must enroll through the advisors in the Student Center. You may be able to register online - visit www.com.edu/schedule for procedures and instructions. There is a mandatory orientation for freshmen and transfer students.

Due to space availability, there is a limit on the number of students allowed to enter the program each semester. Specialty courses include specialization in Manicure / Nail Certificate or Facial Specialist Certificate. All courses are designed for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations Examination for License in Texas.
