Geographic Information Systems

The US Dept. of Labor has identified GIS as a key emerging and evolving field with a variety of opportunities as a career path. COM offers students a progressive GIS curriculum offering two certificate programs, and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Geographic Information Systems.
GIS Technician Certificate

The GIS Technician Certificate offers students two introductory courses followed by two courses focused on GIS analysis. The internship completes this program by bridging the gap between formal training and employment.
GIS Analyst Certificates

The GIS Analyst Certificate provides students with an in-depth knowledge of Geographic Information Systems. The Analyst Certificate goes one step further by including database skills, introductory programming skills and programming for GIS applications.
Associate of Applied Science Degree

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Geographic Information Systems prepares students to be immediately productive in this dynamic and fast growing field. In addition to the GIS training, the AAS degree provides students with a well rounded education through inclusion of core curriculum courses.
