Accuplacer Testing
The Accuplacer test is given as a placement test for initial placement into classes and programs. It is also a state-approved alternative to the THEA test (See THEA Alternative handout for complete information about fulfilling THEA standards).
The complete Accuplacer test consists of four parts: three objective parts and a writing sample in the form of an essay.
A photo ID is required for testing. When taken for THEA purposes there is a $25.00 fee.
Accuplacer Retesting
How soon should students retest?
Students must wait a week before they retest. They must have sufficient time to study to pass the second time through. If they did not score satisfactorily after the second time, they must wait a semester to test a third time. Students need a retest slip from an advisor if they wish to retest within a semester.
What is the cost of retesting?
Current COM students (registered) pay $5 per test or $10 for the essay to retest. Nonstudents must pay $25 to retest, even if they are only taking a section of the exam.
Accuplacer Fees
All examinees must bring a valid photo ID and receipt.
