Phi Theta Kappa is the international community of the two-year colleges honor society. Phi Theta Kappa stresses four Hallmarks of excellence: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship. Members have access to numerous scholarships nationwide, including almost $30 million in scholarships reserved by transfer institutions for Phi Theta Kappans exclusively. Phi Theta Kappans receive transcript notation and a special diploma seal, as well as the privilege of wearing special recognition gala at graduation.
College of the Mainland's Sigma Delta Chapter is strong, active, and distinguished. For service projects, our members have several ongoing community and campus programs such as; Relay for Life, Beach Cleanups, marsh grass plantings, COMpanion Animal Rescue, Lake Eckert Cleanup, just to name a few.
Phi Theta Kappa is a scholarly fellowship which embraces two-year colleges, not only of your own state, but of the nation and the world. To receive a letter of invitation from Phi Theta Kappa - Sigma Delta is one of the highest honors you can receive during your two-year college experience. You will receive opportunities for individual growth through participation in programs while increasing and developing your Leadership capabilities.
Eligibility
College of the Mainland students who have completed at least 12 college hours at COM and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.500, a citizen of the United States or a citizen in good standing of their country. Both part-time and full-time students are eligible.
Honors Study Topic
The 2008 - 2010 Honors Study Topic is "The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges, and Consequences"
The Honors Study Topic provides avenues for honors students to enrich their scholarly endeavors with the interdisciplinary exploration of a timely topic and then apply their knowledge as servant leaders in the college and the community.

Keep America Beautiful challenges Phi Theta Kappa chapters to look closely at the needs of your community, to engage your faculty members and fellow students in meaningful action, to broadcast your successes, to educate, and, above all, to take personal responsibility for the world around you. If we accomplish this together, we will all be doing our part to keep America beautiful.
Sigma Delta Chapter is concentrating on four major focus areas; Education / Awareness, Recycling, Beautification, Clean Communities.
