COM Art Gallery to display “Evolving Perspectives”

Posted on: January 15, 2013

“Front Door” by Caroline Sharpless is one of the works that will be exhibited in “Evolving Perspectives” at College of the Mainland Art Gallery from Jan. 14 through Feb. 7.

“Evolving Perspectives,” an exhibition of work from students in the University of Houston Main Campus Graduate Painting Program, will be on display through Feb. 7 at the College of the Mainland Art Gallery.
From geometric designs to surrealism, the paintings portray different views on the world.

“Each student has a unique take on the painting medium. They’re establishing their own artistic identity,” said Art Gallery director Mayuko Gray.
The graduate students will discuss their work at a reception and artist talk on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the gallery.
“It’s student-to-student communication,” said Gray. “It’s good for our community college students to see what graduate students are doing. It could be an inspiration to a COM student.”
The COM Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and by appointment. For more information on the gallery, call 409-933-8354 or visit
