Bringing holiday cheer to residents throughout Galveston County, College of the Mainland has donated more than 50 sacks of groceries to be distributed by the nonprofit organization The Jesse Tree.

“We enjoy participating in activities that aid and support community development and are glad to support families in the community through The Jesse Tree,” said COM Acting President Dr. Amy Locklear.

COM student groups, employees and children in COM’s Child Development Lab School contributed nonperishable foods in sacks generously donated by the Kroger Co. store located in Texas City.

The Jesse Tree is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that provides families with health care, health education, social services and ministerial resources.

In addition, COM students raised more than $500 for Toys for Tots and collected 105 pounds of canned goods for the M.I. Lewis Center in Dickinson.
