Yoram Bauman, self-titled “the world’s first and only stand-up economist,” will perform at College of the Mainland at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the College of the Mainland Theatre.
Sharing the stage with everyone from Robin Williams to Paul Krugman, Bauman performs at comedy clubs, colleges and companies. Bauman, co-author of Cartoon Introduction to Economics, earned a bachelor’s degree in math from Reed College in Portland, Ore., and a doctorate in economics from the University of Washington. He spent summer and fall 2011 in Beijing as a visiting research scholar at the Global Institute for Low-Carbon Economy.
His goals in life are to spread joy through economics comedy and to reform economics education.
He is appearing at College of the Mainland as this year’s Robert T. Handy Distinguished International Lecturer.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 409-933-8117.
