Executive Advancement Institute
Purpose
To provide a systematic process for assisting employees in preparing for career progression and to ensure that “position ready” candidates are available to fill critical positions as needed to ensure institutional sustainability.
Goals
- To identify a talent pool of employees who are interested in career progression and are willing to develop skills and traits necessary for future opportunities.
- To serve as a talent management tool for the College by developing existing employees.
- To increase employees effectiveness, workplace efficiency, and institutional productivity.
Guidelines
- Employed full-time at the college for at least 4 years
- Completed mandatory supervisory training offered through Human Resources Department
- Completed Leadership Development Academy
- Because a large part of each session is participatory, attendance is mandatory.
- Commit to 18 months of EAI participation
Application Process
Every 18 months, the College will open the application process for new success candidates. The president’s office will issue a call for candidates. Candidates will apply by submitting an application packet including the following items:
- Submit a 500 word letter of interest, Statement of why the applicant believes he/she is an appropriate candidate for this succession route at this time

A letter of application requesting consideration for candidate status. The letter must address the following information:
- Current position and tenure at COM
- Academic preparation and significant professional development activities and accomplishments
- Desired succession route envisioned by the applicant
- Comprehensive resume or curriculum vitae

Receive recommendation or nomination from your immediate supervisor
- A nomination and one letter of recommendation, or
- Two letters of recommendations, one of which must be from a COM employee at a supervisory level speaking to their professional readiness and work ethic
- Provide statement of individual leadership philosophy, and personal purpose statement, not to exceed 2 paragraphs
