At COM, we embrace and celebrate the rich diversity of all individuals – from students to faculty and staff to the communities we serve. Your race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religion, political beliefs or other ideologies will not prevent you from receiving a quality education. To us, it’s about moving beyond simple tolerance. We strive to recognize our similarities and explore our differences in a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
The mission of the Office of Diversity and Equity is to help College of the Mainland capitalize on the strength emanating from the diversity among our students, staff, faculty, and administrators and to foster cross-cultural understanding, communication, and respect among all people of different races, religions, ages, gender, identity or expression, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, national origins, sexual preferences or orientations, medical conditions or disabilities, and marital, veteran or family statuses.
The Office of Diversity strives to increase the diversity of our students and employees to reflect our service area. We offer numerous student and professional organizations, student services and other resources to help promote a rich cultural environment at COM. Plus, our Multi-Cultural Team sponsors and supports numerous educational and cultural events and activities, both on-campus and in the community. Meanwhile, our Director of Diversity & Equity in Human Resources aims to create a diverse employee base at COM.
